Лишь жить в себе самом умей — Есть целый мир в душе твоей Таинственно-волшебных дум; Их оглушит наружный шум, Дневные разгонят лучи, — Внимай их пенью — и молчи!..

Be silent, conceal yourself, and hide both your feelings and your dreams — let them, in the depths of the soul, rise and set silently, like stars in the night — admire them — and be silent. How can the heart express itself? How can another understand you? Will he grasp what you live by? An uttered thought is a lie. Stirring them up, you trouble the springs — feed on them — and be silent. Only learn to live within yourself — there is a whole world in your soul of mysterious, magical thoughts; the outer noise will deafen them, the rays of day will scatter them — heed their singing — and be silent.
